Owner coverage
A driver who owns a vehicle generally needs a policy that accurately schedules and insures that vehicle, its use, drivers, garaging, and selected coverage.
Nonowner or operator coverage
A nonowner policy may be available to an eligible person who does not own a vehicle. It generally provides specified liability protection for the named person rather than physical-damage coverage for a personally owned car.
When nonowner coverage may not fit
It may be unsuitable when you own a vehicle, have regular access to a household or employer vehicle, need physical-damage coverage, or fall outside carrier eligibility rules.
